More coming soon
I'm slowly adding more here: my experience on the PhD job market, current research interests, thoughts on state-of-the-art models, teaching, and a few adventures along the way.
Check back soon for updates.
๐ฌ Adobe Research Scientist Intern
An incredible foundational experience! I worked as a Research Scientist/Engineer Intern in Seattle, WA with my amazing mentor Jane Hoffswell, developing a multi-agent LLM framework to help practitioners create effective visualizations.
๐ช Skydiving Journey
The highlight of my year! This was a long-time dream and a true bucket list item. After paragliding and bungee jumping, I finally took the leap from 13,500 ft. I like challenging myself with adventurous sports every once in a while.
Highly recommend the jump if you're interested โ the folks at Skydive Snohomish are the best: highly trained, professional, and genuinely great people. ๐

๐๏ธ Mt. Rainier Adventure
As Community Intern Captain at Adobe, I had the chance to take our interns on an unforgettable trip to Mt. Rainier. We hiked the Skyline Trail โ the longest trail there โ all the way to the top.
It was incredible to share this experience with such a talented group of people and watch everyone push their limits together. ๐
๐จโ๐ซ Teaching Experience โ 6.67/7
Grateful to my advisor Dr. Alvitta Ottley for this experience. I scored 6.67/7 (Department Average: 6.11/7, School Average: 6.18/7) for co-instructing "Introduction to Visualization."
My teaching journey started during undergrad, TAing Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics courses. I genuinely enjoy helping students โ often extending sessions when needed and learning alongside them.
I taught data visualization including data wrangling, D3.js, design guidelines, what makes good vs. bad visualizations, perception, and prototyping, and helped students build final dashboards for social good.
The best moment was when a student approached me at a campus cafe to say the course was their favorite, and that their final project even helped them land an internship. โจ
๐ American Institutes for Research (AIR) Doctoral Student Intern
A transformative research experience. Though the internship was remote, I spent a week in Washington, DC for orientation. I worked with mentors Brittany Boyd and Cadelle Hemphill on interactive tools to help Grade-8 teachers investigate student performance on Math scores.

๐ฌ How I Got Into Visualization Research
The beginning of my PhD journey. In my final year at Beloit College, I had both industry offers and graduate school acceptances, but I wanted a PhD regardless. As a first-generation college student, education was always a priority in my family.
